Children's Stories - Sleepy Hollow
I bought a book of "Scary" Disney short stories for Rohan a long time ago. Since it was October I figured I would finally start reading them to him. Now on the whole they are fairly benign and not really all that scary.
However the Sleepy Hollow story of the Headless Horseman even creeped me out. I mean almost the whole story Ichabod is being chased by a giant black wearing headless guy on a huge scary black horse holding a huge freaking sword in one hand and a flaming pumpkin in the other. And then at the end there is no nice it was all a dream scenario. No, the last picture in the story is Ichabod's hat lying on the ground. And the story ends with Ichabod being nowhere to be found.
Maybe I've just seen Tim Burton's version of Sleepy Hollow one to many times. It's a great movie and I love Jonny Depp in it but it's still a very creepy, dark and twisted version of the fairy tale.
